SALVUS headlines Forex Expo 2022
On the 31st of March, SALVUS headlined the Forex Expo 2022, an international B2B conference dedicated to the latest advancements in the forex and investment services industries. Globally renowned forex brokerages, payment providers, and crypto-exchange platforms participated including software development company MetaQuotes and investment platform Naga, who also sponsored the event.
The Forex Expo 2022 invited distinguished speakers to shed light on the hottest topics and trends in online trading, blockchain, crypto, payments, and the developments of CySEC regulatory frameworks in Cyprus.
Our Managing Director, Nikolas Xenofontos, featured as a speaker during the opening panel of the event. Alongside high-calibre professionals, Nikolas was invited to share our thoughts on how Cyprus is a friendly environment for financial markets from a licensing, law, and regulatory perspective.
What are the key takeaways?
During the panel, Nikolas informed the audience about CySEC’s Crypto-Asset Services Providers (CASP) registration regime which came into force during the second half of last year. In particular, our Managing Director shared the phenomenal interest we have seen from various crypto-asset providers and fintech projects that wish to register as a CASP in Cyprus.
Nikolas concluded his thoughts by mentioning how the crypto-asset services providers regime is an “antechamber” of a full-blown license and we can expect to hear more from CySEC and ESMA regarding this in the future.
Furthermore, the lively discussion continued as Marios Tannousis, Deputy Director General at Invest Cyprus – CIPA, pointed out the significance of the work being done to ensure Cyprus remains on the map as an attractive investment jurisdiction.
Marios mentioned how CySEC, the Central Bank of Cyprus (CBC), and other key stakeholders are taking steps in the right direction to continue to facilitate the healthy development of the market. Such steps include emphasising incentives for becoming a regulated entity such as a Cyprus Investment Firm (CIF). Additionally, the Deputy Direct General at CIPA, foreshadowed how CySEC and CBC are synergising to offer additional support and solutions to further incentivise foreign investment in the jurisdiction.
