The Seychelles Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) recently published an important notice regarding beneficial ownership. The FIU’s notice highlights the importance of maintaining accurate and up-to-date information of the beneficial owners of:

• Companies incorporated or registered under the Companies Act,
• Associations registered under the Registration of Associations Act, and
• Partnerships under the Civil Code of Seychelles Act.

Legal entities incorporated or registered with any of the acts above understand that non-compliance is illegal and sanctions in line with the Beneficial Ownership Act, 2020, will be enforced.

To ensure compliance with the Seychelles FIU, companies must:

1. Identify and verify their beneficial owners,
2. Maintain a register of beneficial owners, and
3. Upload their beneficial ownership information onto the Seychelles Beneficial Ownership Database.
